It’s easy to say, “Be nice and not a bully.” However, this doesn’t fix the root cause of bullying and cyberbullying. As a nonprofit in Greater Grand Rapids, MI, Text Pledge is working to help communities heal from bullying and prevent it from happening in the first place.
Whether the bullying is happening online or in person, it’s never acceptable to harm another person. The good news is that we’re raising awareness every day in the hopes that fewer children will be bullied in the future.
Get the Facts

If you haven’t already, be sure to take the pledge to prevent bullying and cyberbullying. Together, we can make our communities safer for everyone.
Cyberbullying is Still Bullying
Cyberbullying is unacceptable. Unfortunately, the ability to be anonymous online can embolden people to say things they would never say to someone’s face. At Text Pledge, we’re also fighting the misconception that harassing someone online isn’t as serious as harassing them in person. The truth is that both behaviors are a form of bullying and cause serious harm to the mental health, wellbeing, and safety of others.
If you wouldn’t say something to someone’s face, don’t say it online.
How Bullying Affects Young People
Young people are impressionable. In fact, it takes the human brain until age 25 to fully develop. Being mocked, made fun of, isolated, as well as bullied on social media can be devastating to a growing human brain.
By taking our pledge, you’re promising not to post harsh words on social media.
Before posting anything online, always ask yourself:
- Is what I’m posting good?
- Is what I’m posting right?
- Is what I’m posting true?
If you answer “no” to any of the above questions, please don’t post it to social media where it may hurt others.
