Distracted driving comes with serious and often deadly consequences. In fact, drivers who are texting increase their odds of having or causing a car accident by 83%, according to the Michigan State Police. Educate yourself and your community on the dangers of distracted driving so we can prevent unnecessary accidents, injuries, and fatalities.

Here’s why a text can always wait, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

What is Distracted Driving?

Distracted driving refers to any activity that takes your attention away from the road. While it’s illegal to text and drive in most states, we can’t forget about the other distractions that may exist inside the vehicle.

Examples of distracted driving include:

  • Talking or texting on your phone
  • Eating and drinking
  • Talking to people in your vehicle
  • Adjusting the radio
  • Adjusting the climate controls

You have the power to make a difference! When you take the pledge to stop distracted driving, you are promising to make your community a safer place for all. We can end distracted driving, one pledge at a time.
